Enfield Council Communities & Partnerships Team

The Communities and Partnerships Team deals with equality and diversity issues as well as support for the voluntary and community sector in Enfield. The Council is committed to combating any form of discrimination and harassment, advancing equality of opportunity and access for all our residents, and fostering good relations between all the different groups that make up our community.

Members of the LGBT+ community experience widespread discrimination in our society that exhibits high levels of intolerance towards them. Attitudes are so hostile that many people who are gay or lesbian do not feel safe enough to acknowledge this to the wider world. As a result they have the daily experience of denying a major part of their own identity. Coming out and being out often lead to victimisation, harassment and attack. The Council is committed to reducing the hostility and fear towards members of the LGBT+ community, and working to a position where there is full acceptance as equal and valued members of the local community. For this reason it is a member of, and supports the work of, the Enfield LGBT Network.
